In March 2017, my family and I traveled to Mexico over the weekend. We were celebrating my mom's 50th birthday a few days early (her birthday was the following Tuesday). It was the first time in 5 years my mom saw her father in person.

Read MoreThe year 2015 was like a batch of my aunt's tamale's--it was rough, salty, but towards the end, it wasn't so bad after all. It was a very good year to detox and rid myself of the cancerous nature of the high school mentality. Towards the end, I learned many things. I solidified my plan for my future. I became goal oriented. I rid myself of bad company. I, in a sense, blossomed into my own new person.
