Although I didn't originally plan to attend AnimeFest 2017, it just so happened the protest I was attending later that day was a 10-minute walk from the Shertaon hotel in downtown Dallas. Turns out anime magic is real, huh?

I finally met Shane Cappelle, a visual effects artist at White Unicorn Agency and photographer / owner of ROXAS Studios. I recently befriended lots of photographers on Facebook through the model / photographer / makeup artists groups, and he was one of them. I had known of him through his A-Kon 28 photos. He has great cosplay photos. Anyway, messy background, I know. When we met, we spoke for like 15 minutes (getting to know each other's work, talking about gear, etc.), but he had a scheduled photo shoot at 18:00, so we were short on time. After talking with the Wendy's cosplayers, I noticed a photographer take a quick snap with a Leica setup, so naturally, I asked about it. Can't remember the exact setup, but it was a wide-angle lens with prefocused distance, a wide-angle external viewfinder, and a Nikon SB-E flash.
